ABOUT the FOUNDER

Welcome to Angie’s Swim School. My name is Angelique Benda (Angie for short) and I am 23 years old. I started Angie’s Swim School in 2022, in hopes of following my dream of teaching kids/adults how to swim full-time. I am originally from Lakeland, Florida where I swam all throughout my high school career and taught swimming lessons too. I moved down to South Florida in 2019 to pursue my BSBA and MBA in business from Nova Southeastern University, GO SHARKS! While attending NSU, I swam on the NCAA Divison II swimming team until 2020. I had a career-ending injury in my shoulder followed by a rare-genetic accident in my spine and had to relearn how to walk whilst fighting off COVID-19.

After all of that, I thought swimming was an adventure of my past until I realized that what I went to school for (a 9-5 office job), did not make me happy. Living in South Florida, there are so many pools, lakes, and a large ocean where accidents can and do happen every day. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 4. Teaching swimming lessons is more than having fun in the pool, it is saving lives through education on proper techniques. Teaching kids/adults how to swim and seeing the joy on their faces when they take those first strokes by themselves bring me so much happiness.

Saving lives since 2016.

Success is not determined by the results, but by the effort put into achieving them.
